Paris Regional Medical Center (PRMC) announced plans today to bring together all acute care services offered by the system to a single location on the North Campus over the next 10-13 months.
This much-anticipated announcement follows a thorough and deliberate evaluation process by leadership at both PRMC and Essent Healthcare, PRMC’s parent company, for a solution that will make it easier to for patients to access services, further strengthen its quality of care and allow PRMC to better serve the healthcare needs of the Paris community and surrounding areas both now and into the future.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN REASONS FOR THE MOVE?
First and foremost, this move is part of our continual effort to run a more efficient, focused hospital. It will have a number of positive impacts on PRMC’s patient care services, including:
- Consolidating acute care services on campus that has received less “wear and tear”, as well as provides more flexibility to adjust to the community’s healthcare needs going forward.
- Provides better accessibility to services and reduces confusion on the patient’s part on what campus to go to.
- Will lead to more efficient delivery of patient care and services (For example, no longer operating two emergency rooms.)
WILL THE MOVE BE ALL AT ONCE OR GRADUAL?
The move will occur over time, some areas/functions will move in order to support or set the stage for the main move, and then the final move will be conducted in a coordinated manner that maintains interdependent services and support functions.
HOW LONG WILL THIS PROJECT TAKE?
We anticipate the move will take 10 to 13 months. A final move date will be determined based on a variety of factors (such as regulatory requirements, construction considerations, etc.) very early in the planning process.
WILL THIS DISRUPT PATIENT CARE?
We are approaching this transition in a well thought out and planned manner so that we avoid disruptions in patient care and key services.
WHAT’S THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE WITH THE MOVE?
This is a very complex process that needs to be well thought out and planned in detail. The challenge will be the coordination of a lot of moving parts and interdependencies. So, wide-ranging support will be key to a successful move.
WILL THE NORTH CAMPUS LOOK DIFFERENT FROM THE OUTSIDE?
